Sharing Session ‘Speaking English at Bapelkes Cikarang’: Building Confidence the Fun Way

Learning English can often feel challenging, especially when it comes to speaking. However, in the Sharing Session Ngo-Vi (‘Ngobrol Virtual’) themed “Speaking English at Bapelkes Cikarang,” held on February 20, 2025, civil servants and outsourced workers at Bapelkes Cikarang were encouraged to relax and enjoy the process. Guided by Karina Syafarini, S.Sos as the moderator and Iffa Karina Permatasari, S.Gz., MPH as the speaker, the session focused on ways to incorporate English into daily life to build confidence in speaking.
Iffa shared insights on the importance of mastering English, particularly for government employees. She emphasized that one of the keys to improving English skills is consistent practice in everyday situations. From reading and writing to listening and speaking, participants were encouraged to integrate English into their hobbies and favorite activities as a fun and engaging way to learn.
The session became even more exciting with a ‘this or that’ game, where participants had to respond in English. Initially, many were hesitant, but over time, more and more participants gained the confidence to speak. "Your English doesn’t have to be perfect—what matters is that you try!" said Iffa, appreciating their efforts. This enthusiasm marks a great start for the upcoming English competency development program at Bapelkes Cikarang
